Spartans opposite of Great Win!
The great scribes of the ancient Nubian Kingdom of Hoth would often compose glorious prose to their warrior’s great victories. Of course when things didn’t go exactly to plan the same warriors would be eviscerated and burnt alive in front of a baying crowd. Good thing this isn’t Hoth. The red24 Spartans came up against a determined HOWTHEPHAARQ.com team early this evening, and despite leaving everything on the field including over 58 litres of sweat and at least one lung, came out second best. There were some (one or two) positives to take out of the game though. Debutant Ryan “AM SHIFTY” Cummings showed exactly what sort of talent he was by saving, parrying and deftly deflecting everything that came his way including the odd chirp from 24s Mr. Angry, Cap’n Rob who was quoted after the game as saying “at the end of the day it’s about the W’s and the L’s tonight we had none of both … and that confuses me”. Guy “the Kid” Brown also earned his first cap for the Spartans franchise and showed that his talent was equal to his alert tracking skills and that the team would have many hat tricks to savour later on in the season. Grant “Aces Mabulele” Scheepers and Jon “Amakhoooosi” Vincent had solid enough games and defended well, but not as well as Amakhooosi defended his ice cold Windhoek after the game in front of 6 incredibly thirsty Spartos. Amakhoosi will be facing a disciplinary hearing soon due to this meanie behavior. In the midfield Andre “now you see me now you don’t” had an amazing game and will soon be signed by Liverpool….Women’s Sewing Club. Gerrit “Wild Bill” was unlucky in the first half of the warm ups not too convert some of his chances into goals. Spartans next fixture is next Tuesday vs Puma United at 18:30. Spartans management have decided to cancel all fitness training in the run-up to the game to keep the opposition guessing.
