red24 kicked off their campaign on 27 August with a defeat against the F8 team from Std Bank. Short 3 first team regulars, the Spartans struggled to maintain any momentum or gain in rhythym in the game, struggling to post 70 first innings runs, after a promising 42 run opening partnership. When F8 came into bat the required rate was a tad above 4 an over, easy pickings for this experienced side. Spartans debutant, Pam "the chirp" Stewart, faired well in her first outing for the franschise taking three wickets in one particularly feisty over. Returning to the setup for the first league game next week will be Cath, Cathy and Derica, who it is hoped, will add more to the sides batting. JP is also likely to crack the nod for his first game if he can pass a fitness test at Tiger Tiger this weekend.
