The24s succumbed to some superb bowling, fielding and batting from the fantastic 8 earlier tonight in a match that at times resmbled a slaughter house massacre of blind wombats. Going into the game with four fresh faces (three on deboo) the 24s were always going to struggle to contain the rampant chukkas the F8. Batting first the F8 put on a glorious 170 runs in 16 overs the third highest total of all time against the24s. The bowling was never great from the 24s; however grit determination and passion were written all over the newbies faces (Dom, Sam the lion and Ryo the crazy slogger). They showed that in 2 to 3 matches time they would be forces to be reckoned with.
The batting effort was less than superb. Opening pair Chris and Sam faced an uphill battle early on and after 2 overs where at-8. However, showing true fighting spirit they fought back heroically scoring 15 runs in the next 4 overs. The second pairing of Cath and Andre failed to fire on the night and they must be dissapointed with their efforts. That said the total facing them must have seemed insurmountable. However, these experienced campaigners especially the captain will learn a lot from this game. He will learn that depsite the odds, going down fighting is always better than falling over like a syphillis infested hamster. Pairing number three seemed oddly immune to the effects of the score. Grant and Angela "I dont feel like being here" Corlett amazed the crowd with swift parries and quick singles leaving the dazed F8 wondering when the torture would stop. When finally the pair twisted the knife for the last time and withdrew, they left a trail of destruction to the sum of 48 runs. Well batted. The final pair, Dom and Crazy Slogger did well not to injure the fielders.
After all said and done an excellent learning curve. However, it was dissapointing on the night that so few players stayed after the game. It is after all supposed to be an escape from the daily grind. With that said its on to the prize giving...
