Touted as the game that would dominate season ending highlights by the bookies early on, this contest ultimately failed to live up to its pre-match billing as Fantastic 8 were shown to be less than fantastic. Batting first the gritty red24 team smashed and grabbed at every run scoring opportunity, scoring at impunity and pulling off strokes that wouldve impressed the Don himself. Rookie batter, Derica "Derka Derka stan" Lampregts, showed grit in her first outing to the middle batting with finesse and guile showing no jitters on the hot and balmy night. Fantastic 8's fielding can best be summed up in one word on the nigth "absolutecraponastick". Final innings total, 110.
Defending the total were 8 aggressive and finely tuned 24s athletes and the night would belong to them as they caught, threw and got hit in the head very well. Fantastic 8 showed no signs of winning this rubber and were lucky to accumulate the 80 odd runs they did on the night, thanks in no part to an unsportsmanlike slog from the final pair of Laurel and Tardy who put on 30 ill-gotten runs. Congratualtions to the champs who go into next weeks fixture knowing that nothing else than total commitment and victory will be acceptable to the fans.
